TKRP steel caliper piston set (1) YZF-R6 & YZF-R1
Original brake calipers are often equipped with aluminum pistons to safe weight. However, these aluminum brake pistons are not suitable for race usage! Due to hard and excessive braking the aluminum pistons heat up too quickly, causing them to expand and get stuck - losing all braking power. This is of course very dangerous.
To prevent this problem you can mount this steel brake piston kit. The steel expands less than the aluminum which prevents the brakes from losing their power or not working at all when heating up. Also, you should always make sure to keep your brakes clean in the first place.
IMPORTANT:
The kit comes in a set of 2 pistons, 4 seals and grease. If you want to upgrade both calipers, you need 2 of these kits (48-180001) AND 2 of the 48-180002 piston kit (for the 2 smaller pistons and seals).
The pistons in this kit are 30.2 x 21 mm and fit the Yamaha YZF-R6 17> and the YZF-R1 15>.
